Lira Voss was born and raised in Waterdeep, in a narrow street where the buildings leaned close and the nights were never truly dark.
Her family ran a modest candle and lamp shop, which supplies various temples, guild halls and private homes. The whole family is involved in the business and Lira was the one who went around the city and areas to bring the supplies.
From her father, Arjen, she learned patience and craft, and from her mother, Selene, she learned about faith. Her parents taught her and her siblings, Ryn and Tessa, that light is meant to be a guide and that whenever you find yourself in darkness you can always find a speck of light no matter how small.
One night there was a fire in the neighborhood, where panic spread and flames threatened to consume everything, Lira’s magic came to life. The damage was contained, lives were spared and a local shrine to Lathander took notice of Lira. After that night, Lira became a cleric and learned how to heal, protect and how to call upon fire that did not rage but listen.
As her faith grew, Waterdeep did remind her daily that goodness was rarely simple. She combined her work as a candle merchant with her duty as a cleric for a long time. She helps where she can and hopes that with just a little light she can be there for the people of Waterdeep.
During one of her days where Lira was wandering around in Waterdeep helping people and providing some light where she can, she met a group of people. She was not sure what it was about them but she felt a connection, and together they decided to become a party and the next step was to plan a heist.
